Sitting there, alone in a foreign country, far from my job and everyone I know, a feeling came over me. It was like remembering something I’d never known before or had always been waiting for, but I didn’t know what.
Maybe it was something I’d forgotten or something I’ve been missing all my life. All I can say is that I felt, at the same time, joy and sadness. But not too much sadness, because I felt alive.
Xtreme Office: this is a show wherein a bunch of kids who have never worked a day in their lives are put in a big, busy office and forced to perform office-y duties like fax things, send emails, make spreadsheets etc. Except they have to do all of it under really extreme situations like hurricane winds, surrounded by attack dogs, fire, things like that. Winner gets a promotion and some money or whatever.
Big Sweater in Little Chinatown: Contestants have to buy the ugliest sweater they can find and then go to Chinatown. They get money for every person in Chinatown they can get to try the sweater on. The person with the most money at the end gets to keep the money to buy a new sweater.
Flanagrams: Players get a word and have to create as many anagrams out of that word as possible in a minute. Whoever has the least anagrams is pushed into a giant tub of flan. Flan is delicious so I don’t think there’s a downside to this one.
Also, unrelated to TV, Bad News Beers which would be beers that have an extremely depressing fact on the side of the can. However, there would be an incredibly uplifting piece of info at the bottom the can (still working out the logistics here) to show that sticking it out in a sad situation can lead to something wonderful. Profound life lessons learned via drinking.
FACT: FLAN IS DELISH AND CAMERA READY
I think the sweater challenge should be how many people you can fit into 1 sweater instead of getting people to try on the sweater one at a time.
“We’ve known for some time that men need marriage more than women from the standpoint of physical and mental well-being. Now it is becoming increasingly important to their economic well-being as well.”— - Stephanie Coontz
“I’m selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best.”—
Ohmygoodness. There were enough of us teenage girls watching the show (at that time) so I feel as if I can freely admit that I wanted that show to be my life. Actually, I was in high school so I felt like that show mirrored my life at times. Oh the drama.
“I think it’s more interesting to see people who don’t feel appropriately. I relate to that, because sometimes I don’t feel anything at all for things I’m supposed to, and other times I feel too much. It’s not always like it is in the movies.”—Ryan Gosling (via chocolate-cigarettes) (via blnkpgs) (via kari-shma)
“You’ve been halfway living your life for too long. When it’s time to die, go ahead and die, and when it’s time to live, live. Don’t sort-of-maybe live, but live like you’re going all out, like you’re not afraid.”—The Secret Life of Bees (via kari-shma)
“You may not be her first, her last, or her only. She loved before she may love again. But if she loves you now, what else matters? She’s not perfect - you aren’t either, and the two of you may never be perfect together but if she can make you laugh, cause you to think twice, and admit to being human and making mistakes, hold onto her and give her the most you can. She may not be thinking about you every second of the day, but she will give you a part of her that she knows you can break - her heart. So don’t hurt her, don’t change her, don’t analyze and don’t expect more than she can give. Smile when she makes you happy, let her know when she makes you mad, and miss her when she’s not there.”—Bob Marley (via kari-shma)
Eman read my fortune again and once again, there is travel in my future. Primarily business travel. Apparently, I won’t love the travel, but I’ll have a good time at my destination. There was also an angel in my cup and a girl with long, pretty hair and she appears at the same time as a tall bush/tree-like plant (aka guy). I will also travel somewhere with a sea (that is sea rather than an ocean). I also have a lot on my mind, but I’m happy and content.
At lunch Eman read my fortune from the grounds from my Turkish coffee. I have a lot of traveling coming up (yay!); love is coming into my life soon (yay!); I have a lot on my mind (…sigh…) and I will go through a hard time for a few months (…sigh…) before finally getting good news (yay!).
